Sydney Marine & Max McKelvey - Distributer for Active Anchors

Sydney Marine delivers premium vessel detailing and washing, marine plumbing, vacuum flush servicing, trade coordination and super yacht tender hire across Sydney Harbour

Max McKelvey

DIRECTOR & FOUNDER

As the founder of Sydney Marine, Max set out to build a place where boat owners feel completely comfortable with the work being done on their vessel — no guesswork, no jargon, no wondering whether the job's done right. With over a decade on the water as a commercial Master and in the marina space, he understands what recreational and commercial owners actually need, often before they know how to ask.

Before taking on the distributorship the first thing Max did was attach a DF400 Active Anchor to one of his hire boats and threw it in the water close to the mouth of Sydney Harbour. The anchor set immediately and didn't seem to move so, he figured the only real test would be to leave the boat and see what would happen. Three months later he returned and found the boat hadn't moved so, he pulled up the anchor. To his amazement it came out easily and still looked in top condition. From that point on, the decision to become a distributor was simply obvious.
