Paul Bennett - ACTIVE DF300 Review

Great Anchor, great service
I purchased a 300 Active Anchor for the 3.4m inflatable RIB we carry on our catamaran. We needed an anchor we could trust when leaving the dinghy off a beach while we headed off on long hikes.

Our previous anchor, although a stainless steel folding grapnel anchor, was pretty hopeless once the wind picked up. Before buying, I spent a fair bit of time researching and must have watched close to 100 videos on the best anchors for dinghies and inflatables. In the end, I decided to take a chance and order the 300 Active Anchor online – something I don't normally do.

What impressed me from the start was the service. The owner of Active Anchors lives nearby and personally delivered the anchor, taking the time to explain its features and how to get the best performance from it. I deliberately held off writing a review until I had properly tested it.

After several uses, I can honestly say it is outstanding. Set with about a 7:1 scope on a sandy beach, I couldn't pull it free by hand once it was dug in. For such a light anchor, the holding power is remarkable. The anchor is well designed, lightweight, easy to handle, and performs exactly as advertised.

The price is very fair, and it's great to be supporting an Australian-made product. I hope this company does very well. Excellent product, excellent service, and it has given me complete confidence when leaving the dinghy unattended. It certainly ticks all the boxes for me.
